Do you think this is true with VH1 reality show voiceover work as well????

I am assuming that the reels Ms. Baker listens to are from specific agencies and that those agencies are within Los Angeles.
What about atlent in San Francisco or Texas who have strong local representation and access to ISDN or phone patch? How might they evr get in the running, or will that just not happen?

Keeping in mind each producer and associate producer has a subjective “ear”, and just saying “I’ll know the voice when I hear it” doesn’t really help in the audition process. Take things a step BACK, when a producer listens to a talent’s demo before an audition ever happens, that person’s demo is only as good as the previous producer and studio. Aside from falling in love with Ms. Baker’s picture (very attractive lady), I didn’t come away with any knowledge that would help me land another huge client or give me an edge with any producer from my demo or an audition. And yes, I take direction very well, I CAN sound taller with more facial hair!

Very good question Deby about VH1. I’ll check with Susan about that.

Good question J.S. San Francisco and Texas could be a different story!

Yes, taking direction seems to be at the top of producer’s lists, Mark.

Sounds like you’ve got everything you need Jay for VO success. More power to you. Yes indeed this business is very subject and we as VO actors need to roll with it instead of get frustrated and discouraged. Thanks for listening Jay!
