Sounds Like A Book
January 22nd, 2008 Posted in General Info, MarketingThe audio book publishing industry is alive and well, but changing. I spoke to an audio producer last week from a major publishing house and she says things are changing rapidly and that publishers are looking to produce audio projects more inexpensively. That’s good and bad news for the voice over actor. Good news because they may be steering away from celebrities with those giant fees and driving right towards the working voice over actor. The bad news is the rates will likely go down. We’ll see. But there’s more good news. The audio book is here to stay thanks to the expansion of the internet and the ubiquitous iPod. So, we must be ready for those opportunities. Listen to this week’s Voice Registry podcast. I talk to audio producer Dennis Kao about how voice over actors can navigate their way into this expanding voice over field.-Tracy Pattin
