NPR’s Brian Unger Talks More About His Radio Career Plus TV Hosting for Discovery Networks

“Today, guests need the host to comfort them and build trust that the interviewer will be true to their wishes” says Brian Unger about being host of NPR’s Day to Day.

When I asked him about how he does his research for each show, he says, “This being a political year, the news media keeps serving you up stuff. So many are having their way with news and opinion these days. Each morning is a new cycle. You have to consume 6 Newspapers, check 50 blogs and turn on TV, but there’s so little reporting on TV news.”

From NPR to his producing for Lifetime’s “Obstetrics & Gynecology Update” to on camera TV hosting for Discovery Networks’, “Some Assembly Required” (new episodes start June 18th), Brian Unger has a truly fascinating and eclectic career.

Listen to part 2 of my interview with him Tuesday, June 8th. If you haven’t already, check out part 1 from last Tuesday’s podcast.
