“Clients want you to bring your own interpretation to the copy,” says Improvisation teacher Bill Applebaum in today’s Voice Registry podcast. “Improvisation brings out your uniqueness, your truthfulness.”

Seems when we get down to it, the best thing a voice actor can bring to the audition or voice over job is themselves. Sometimes that is easier said that done. But by building improv skills, we can tap into our truth and discover more of our creativity, hopefully resulting in great choices when we’re doing voice over work.

Here are a few tools improv can add to your VO toolbox:

1. Helps give you ideas and choices in the booth

2. Helps you find character voices

3. Helps you trust your instincts giving you more confidence

Find out more about the incredible benefits of improvisation for the voice actor in my interview with Bill Applebaum.
