Anime Day….A Growing Market for Voice Actors
February 21st, 2008 Posted in Finding Work, General Info, MarketingI just sat in on recording sessions at Salami Studios in North Hollywood today with Voice Director, Rene Veilleux. Rene directs ADR and dubbing for Anime and Animation. All I can say is…Wow. (But being a voice actor, I have more to talk about!)
I found myself in the midst of a magnificent vocal orchestra. Actors Patrick Seitz and Julie Ann Taylor voicing every breath,”uhumm”, jump, grunt, and word of dialogue, all bathed in specific emotions to the specific timing of each “mouth flap” while Rene is calling out time coded lines to his engineer and guiding the voice talent through this ADR/dubbing jungle, to their best performance.
The good news for voice over artists is Anime is an expanding market with tons of new shows and tons of characters making it a great opportunity to get more work. But, it is a very specialized field requiring the talent to be on their toes every second.
Listen for my upcoming in-the-field podcast with Rene Veilleux at Salami Studios and learn how to get into this fascinating voice over world.
